Bae Seul-Gi has lived up to that quote for the last decade. A certified genius at the age of 11, Seul-Gi returns home after getting a Ph.D in medicine from Hardvard. For her birthday, she requests freedom from her rich surgeon father. 10 years of isolation and loneliness at college has left Seul-Gi with a desire to be with her brother in South Korea before she returns to the cold life she grew accustomed of.

Given a year, Seul-Gi travels to South Korea, only to work as a coordinator for pop duo Inhibition that consists of the arrogant Jung Yunho and charming Choi Si Won. She is taught what it's like to be hurt, to be in love,and to experience joy. Secrets of the past slowly unravel, lessons of selfish love is taught, and maybe there is more to the quote than she thought. The lives of these three young adults intertwine as fate plays a dirty trick on all of them. These three seemingly different people have one thing in common: There is more to their first loves than meets the eye.

Through the duo, Seul-Gi learns something that cannot be found in books. Intelligence cannot control fate.
